Straight Divot"Imagine you will be creating a straight forward divot. Start with the small shots and build your way up to the top"
Because the shape of the divot creates an implied information for the subconscious to be clear about what is the final result of the swing's plane and direction, subconscious is able to fill in the blank intermediate frames, freeing us from excessing analyzing. Right Hand Palm Is A Clubface"Imagine your right hand palm & clubface as one unit connected through the shaft. Feel the clubface orientation through the right hand palm orientation."
Because of the kinesthetic mental connection between the right hand and the clubface, you are able to boost the feeling of the clubface orientation and becoming aware of it throughout the swing and especially at impact. Feel Together Drill"Feel the centeredness of the swing by putting your feet together and just focus on turning the hips and upper body around central body axis."
Because of minimizing feet position area, we are challenging the body to stay in a balanced position and managing the body to stay over the ball. This visualization enables you to apply optimal force throughout the swing, resulting in better overall balance. |
The Lagging Ball"Imagine your club as a heavy ball on a very flexible shaft. Move it a bit to the left & right feeling the delay created between the shaft and the ball. First the flexible shaft stretches to it's limit, then it drags the ball with it."
Because of it's perceived delay & weight, your body would want to use larger muscle groups and properly sequence the movement. It creates a complete mental representation of optimal sequencing of the movement, as it is implying an effective information on how to properly use the hips and back muscles to start the movement in both back swing and down swing. Box Clubface"Imagine holding a box between your hands, front edge representing the clubface. Don't move the position or angle of the box during the swing, keep it fixed between your hands."
Because the box represents a singular information, it is feeding our subconscious with understandable implied information about the correct clubface orientation. First start with the half swing, then move to the full swing. Counting Swing Sequence"Say in your mind our out loud: 1-2(backswing) & 1 (downswing) or longer option 1-2-pause & 1-2-3 (backswing) & 1 (downswing)."
Because you are cuing your tempo with an auditory information, it is processed more directly by the subconscious, freeing your mind from unnecessary clutter. It avoids the engagement of pre-frontal cortex by pulling you more into subconscious processing, using your mind only to cue short instructional intentions and letting your body do the rest (by completely trusting it knows how to do it's job). |
