THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO POINT IN HITTING A SECOND GOLF SHOT WHEN YOU ARE PLAYING A ROUND!
Just about everybody has hit a second shot that is significantly better than their first or tired a putt again and made it the second time, and followed that with "second team all American" or "that second guy is good". The problem with hitting a second golf shot is that in the back of your head, you know that you are going to throw down another ball and do it again.
It is not until you are fully aware that you only have one shot, do those shots that you hit with the second guy begin to present themselves in the first guy. Seriously, think about how many times you are successful with the second guy.....now think if you never hit a second shot, even if it is 10%, how many more good golf shots are you going to hit on the first try?
It is simple. When you hit a second shot you are telling yourself that you don't trust the first guy. It is imperative that we eliminate the second guy so that we can begin to hit our best shots with the first guy!
I can't just sit here and yell at you with no solution. The easiest way to eliminate the second guy is to just stand there. Figure out what part of the process went wrong. Exit the shot, knowing that you have a plan to improve your process and that is going to improve the effectiveness of your next swing. Trust yourself. Trust the process. Be patient!
