Mental Toughness.........The term "mental game" is ambiguous and has different connotations for different people. As a golf mental coach, I frequently get the question: "What exactly is the mental game?" Some people might imagine that a golf or sport psychologist would ask you to lie down on a couch and open up about your innermost issues that date back to your formative years. I see the mental game in golf as a technique to enhance someone's performance based on psychological performance difficulties. This is how someone is performing RIGHT NOW! I hardly ever ask golfers about their early life. I am interested in learning what you want, why you don't have it and how to make your aspirations a reality. In some cases, it is a straightforward matter that can be resolved in a few minutes, but in other cases, it could call for ongoing effort. I thinking my role as a performance coach is to bring to your attention something that you may have forgotten. In order to play at a higher level, I give some suggestions, ask crucial questions and teach some tools and strategies. Golfers have long understood the value of having a strong mental game. When Bobby Jones said, "The most important part of golf is six inches between the ears," he was referring to the mental aspect of the game. The acceptance of players using the mind game to enhance performance changed in the late 1980s. Athletes like Davis Love III, Tom Kite and Nick Price began training with renowned sports psychologists and they later stated that this improved their performance. More athletes of all levels have turned to coaching sessions and read books on the mental game during the past twenty years.
There hasn't been much research in the area of golf psychology that demonstrates how particular strategies affect performance. But during the past five years, the number of research studies has increased and the findings can help us all perform better. In order to help you learn how to take access the advantages of mental training, I have partnered up with FlowCode Golf Academy.
