The words that are used in the pre-shot routine need to state exactly the result that you want to achieve. This needs to be accomplished with absolutely zero doubt. The concept is extremely simple when broken down. After hearing or thinking a positive thought, one has the ability to fire themselves up. This is a byproduct of giving yourself a reason to believe. You have to become the Earl Woods in making yourself motivated and smiling. Before hitting a golf shot, there are ONLY TWO options. Literally, two. You are either going to hit the golf shot the way you wanted to, or you are not going to hit the golf shot the way that you wanted to. If you approach the golf shot with a so/so mindset and the words used before the shot are, "I really hope I hit this one good" you are rarely going to see positive results. Also to noted, there is no specific on where you want the ball to go. HERE'S A THINKER......you could in fact, hit the ball "good" and it goes in the water but all you were really concerned about was hitting the ball "good". If the words you use before your shot are "I am going to hit this at the center of the green" and you fail, you may still end up on the left/right side of the green and in hindsight, found a way to successfully fail. Positive thinking is the most simplistic method to shift your focus and self-talk towards something empowering. Speaking and thinking positive statements produce desired results. 100% of the time. (numbers could have been skewed but take it as you may.) I have found it true that the words you tell yourself make you feel exactly that way. You must be able to tell yourself what you NEED to hear, not just what you want to hear.
