Your mind takes your words literally so it is imperative that you only speak words that are uplifting. This task seems almost impossible at first and to be completely honest, right away it is. There is a theory that I have learned that is called "The Snapback Theory"
The snapback theory states that when you are trying to make changes, at some point you are going to "snapback" into your old ways. One of my favorites podcasts is "Having it A.L.L. with Matthew Bivens" He states that this is like walking into a gym with the intentions of lifting 400 pounds without any training. You aren't just going to be able to go over and lift it. The only way this is going to be possible is if you make small daily deposits over time, resulting in progressively lifting more weight.
The same thing applies to how you respond to a golf shot on the course. When first introducing GolfWright into your game, you might only being using positive words for the first few holes, and then BOOM right back to where you started. That is because you do not have the strength developed yet to make it 18 holes, which believe me, is to be expected.
With all that being said, that is why it is instrumental that we make positive thinking second nature. We have to consistently work on improving how we think and talk to ourselves.
Side note:
You have to believe what you are telling yourself. I can't tell you how many times I have called somebody out on being negative or making a statement that is not beneficial to their golf game and they respond with "oh I know, I really don't think that" but YES YOU DO. The easiest way to ensure that you are being true to yourself is to only speak the words that you want yourself to hear and disregard everything else.
